; MINISTER'S MESSAGE
1986, as a year, had little to commend it From many points of view.
It was a particularly sad year for some. Yet it also had its bright spots
~ and successes. Our Daily Vacation Bible School in August was among our
most successful. Our Christmas services were, as always, above the
average in attendance and in generosity. And who could forget the year
end with a sumptious feast of B.C. salmon at our New Year’s Eve buffet. ‘
1987 has dawned and we look forward to new Faces and new perspectives
to give us added initiative as they bring to us the gifts of the Holy
Spirit.
Nine inquiring minds and spirits are exploring "The Workbook of
Living Prayer.” Also, a study on "The Parables of Jesus” is hosted each
Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. for those who wish to explore "Bible Study”
in addition to the regular morning service. Church School is now held
completely at 11:00 a.m. to accomodate those who come from a distance.
We live in an age that moves from crises to crises. Sometimes we feel
that our church is the same. We are reminded that crises are made up of
danger but also opportunity. It is my prayer and hope that we in
Westminster-St. Paul’s will face the dangers of our age in the power of
the Holy Spirit and capitalize on our opportunities in the strength of
that same Spirit.
God is always on the side of a church that sincerely seeks to extend
His Kingdom.
