SUNDAY SCHOOL REPORT
1986 was a year of change and experiment for our Sunday School. The
most dramatic change being the combining of both Senior and Junior
Classes at 11:00 a.m. This change was initiated in an attempt to —
accomodate those Families who travel some distance to attend church. By
having all activities at one time, only one trip to church is required.
This change has been both @ success and a failure. The success is the
Number of children attending Sunday School, and the Failure has been the
lack of teachers, Particularly for Senior classes. This lack of support
is very disappointing considering that our congregation was started as a
Sunday School to serve the needs of a new subdivision.
On a positive note, I would like to express my thanks and
appreciation to those individuals who have given of their time and
talents to teach and work with our Sunday School. These children are the
future of our church and the work of these fine teachers can truly be
described as a mission of Outreach not only to our own congregation but
to the community as well. I feel that we,the congregation of
Westminster-St. Paul’s, owe a special debt of thanks to Mrs. Velma Smith
for her long years of service to our Sunday School.
Qur annual Congregational Picnic was one of the most successful in
recent years and I would like to thank all those who helped in any way to
make it such a success.
This year we did not have the usual Christmas Pageant but instead the
children and their parents were invited to a roast beef dinner and party
hosted by Rev. Wilson. Our special guest, of course, was Santa and he s
presented the children with gifts of candies and books. I would like to f
thank the P.W.A. for their support of this event.
T would ask for your prayerful support of the Sunday School. If you
would like to have a very rewarding experience, I would encourage you to
consider teaching, even if only for one month a year. I would also ask
Parents to encourage their children to attend Sunday School on a regular
basis.
